Field Notes from Valerie Tate

Below are the yields we obtained from the legume variety trial conducted at FSRC. The legume variety trial was frost seeded in the early spring of 2002. There are seven commercially available red clover varieties, one entry of common (variety not stated) red clover grown in Oregon, and four locally grown 'ecotypes' (common seed) of red clover grown in Missouri. The lespedeza was not manually reseeded in 2003 and did not naturally reseed itself adequately for yield determinations in 2003. Annual lespedeza was frost seeded in the spring of 2004 to regenerate the stand. All entries were harvested twice during the 2004 growing season. We received abundant precipitation throughout the 2004 growing season.
