PeopleSoft update

PeopleSoft Grants 8.8 is up and running! There are some changes so please allow for extra time in working with grants folks on doing the data entry for the new PeopleSoft signature routing sheet. Please let Martha Jones know if you have not received training or if you would like to receive training. CAFNR will be arranging a training session in the near future.

North Central Region SARE 2006 Call for Research and Education Preproposals

The Research and Education (R&E) Grant Program is currently one of four NCR-SARE grant programs. The R&E Grant Program provides funds to collaborative teams of scientists, farmers, institutions, organizations, and educators who are exploring sustainable agriculture through in-depth research projects or education and demonstration projects. Project results must benefit NCR agriculture. Most R&E grants go to organizations that are used to handling large grants and that can meet federal auditing requirements. You can download a PDF file for the 2006 NCR-SARE Research and Education call for preproposals and a Word file for the coverpage. The Word document cover page can be used as a template rather than having to retype the cover page.

The call for preproposals is also available on the "call for proposals" page of the NCR-SARE Web site.

Preproposals are due in the Lincoln NCR-SARE office by June 15, 2005.

The following are highlights of this year's call for preproposals:

  • SARE changes a few items in the call for preproposals every year, so authors should use the 2006 call for preproposals as their guide rather than a version from previous years.
  • SARE does not want support letters included with the preproposals. The author needs to find a way to indicate that farmers and other end users for the information are appropriately involved in the project, but they do not want to see support letters at the preproposal stage.
  • SARE doesn't like to see a lengthy appendices at the preproposal stage.
  • If you have had funded projects in the past, SARE is going to be looking closely at a project coordinator's reporting history. If a person who wants to submit a preproposal has any delinquent reports on past NCR-SARE projects, it would be a good idea to submit those reports before writing a new preproposal.
