NIH invites applications for funding under the Shared Instrumentation Grant Program

The Shared Instrumentation Grant Program provides for the acquisition or updating of expensive shared-use instrumentation not generally available through other NIH mechanisms. Examples of instrumentation supported include confocal and electron microscopes, biomedical imagers, mass spectrometers, DNA sequencers, biosensors, cell sorters, X-ray diffraction systems, and NMR spectrometers. Applications are limited to instruments that cost at least $100,000 per instrument or integrated instrument system. The maximum award is $500,000. For purposes of eligibility, a major user group of three or more investigators must be identified. Eligible are domestic, public or private nonprofit organizations. NIH announces regional seminar on program funding and grants administration

The Office of Extramural Research (OER) is sponsoring a NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants at the University of California Riverside May 31 - June 1 2006. The seminar is intended to help demystify the application and review process, clarify Federal regulations and policies, and highlight current areas of special interest or concern. The seminar serves the NIH mission of providing education and training for the next generation of biomedical and behavioral scientist.

NIH policy, grants management, review and program staff provide a broad array of expertise and encourage personal interaction among themselves and seminar participants. This seminar is appropriate for grants administrators, researchers new to NIH, and graduate students.
